On Sunday December 10, 2006  - Friends, family and divers came together to:

DIVE FOR A CURE  

and Raised Over $2000 for the Canadian Cancer Society !!

Event Summary:

 The Dive Source team arrived early to set up the all equipment needed for the event as well as get themselves ready for the 64 people who made their contribution to the Canadian Cancer Society  to try scuba diving that night.

As the participants arrived they were greeted by staff from Dive Source who checked them in and gave them their "Boarding Pass" that would allow them to move through the different stations of the event. From here they went up to the classroom for the first part of the program.

In the classroom they settled in for a multimedia presentation by two of the Dive Source scuba instructors.  It began with the basics of scuba diving as well as what they were going to be doing that evening in the pool, as they discovered the wonder of breathing underwater and the joy of "innerspace".

After the classroom session they moved downstairs to get changed and check into the pool desk where they were given a quick briefing and then brought to the pool instructors who would be taking them on their underwater adventure.

After some hands on training,  they descended below and had their first taste of breathing underwater!  As they got their new skills mastered each group continued on with their instructors to tour the pool as well as play special underwater games and puzzles brought in for the event.

Eventually their time was up and the next group had arrived  and was eagerly awaiting their chance, so it was time to move back the regular world above the water.

Smiles abounded as each person got dressed and on their way the air was charged with laughter and talk about how wonderfull the experiance was, as well as joy in how people from many places had come together to raise money for a cause that affects us all.

The Dive Source Team was honoured to be involved in this special event which was the first of it's kind to combine the discover scuba diving experiance with raising money for Cancer.

Special thanks to the Town of Whitby as well as the volunteers and training staff of Dive Source Scuba who helped to make this event such a tremendous success.
